Planning your exams

Plan backwards from the exam day: how many study blocks do you need, where does your rest moment fall, and so which day do you start?

secondary school12 to 18 yearsDraft: Not yet checked by a teacher or pupil counsellor.

Why

Amira has seven exams in two weeks in June. For each subject she only starts the evening before. Why can she not keep that up?

During exams there is often only one evening between two exams. If you only start the evening before, you have to learn everything in a few hours, while that evening is also needed for rest and sleep.

Researchers found again and again that spread out studying sticks better than doing it all at once. An exam plan makes sure you have already seen each subject a few times before the exam period starts.

Planning backwards also brings calm. You know each day what to do, and you know it is enough.
